WHY GO TO THERAPY?

Therapy takes many different forms. It can be used to treat a whole range of challenges including depression, anxiety and stress and it is a useful tool in tackling relationship problems, addiction and the consequences of divorce and separation. It can also be used to help clients come to terms with events in their earlier life such as adoption, or feelings of rejection, while many men find it useful when discussing issues such as impotence or 'weekend dad' syndrome.

Regardless of what you're struggling to deal with, I will use my psychotherapy experience to find the ideal solution to your problems. I was trained using an integrated approach, which means that I will incorporate a variety of techniques and theories to address the unique needs of every client, couple or family.

One approach that will almost certainly be incorporated in your treatment programme is psychodynamic therapy, which examines your past. Identifying key moments in your life, we will explore how these have shaped you to become the person you are today. This may well then be complemented by Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, which is focussed on addressing and changing negative thought patterns and beliefs - things that may hold you back from overcoming your issues and achieving your full potential.

COUNSELLING & PSYCHOTHERAPY

Just some of the services that I offer to individuals and couples are:

MEN'S GROUP THERAPY

In the friendly and supportive environment, a group of up to 6 men can discuss issues they can't address at home. Issues may include:

If your personal needs aren't addressed in the above list, then please don't hesitate to give me a call to discuss your situation. If I can't hep you myself, then I will happily refer you to someone who can help you from my trusted network of experienced and qualified therapy professionals.

Group therapy is ideal for men. As many men find it difficult to open up, this is a safe way to explore how you are feeling, where everyone in the room can understand the stresses and strains of everyday life. With each course lasting for 10 weeks on a rolling basis, new members will be able to join the group as places become available.

WHAT HAPPENS IN THERAPY?

  • Our first meeting will take the form of a 60-minute assessment and is a good opportunity for us to meet face-to-face.
  • In a safe and confidential space (either my consultation room in Fitzrovia, my garden studio in Cranbrook or at your home), we will begin investigating why you're feeling the way you do.
  • During this time, we'll go over some basic personal details and I will ask you some questions to help me build a clearer picture of why you've come to therapy. If you are unable to meet up in person, then we can explore the option of chatting via Face Time or over Skype.
  • I will then advise you on the ideal timescale for your treatment. Normally I recommend an initial block of 8 sessions - each 50-minutes in length - though this can be tailored according to your goals and availability.
  • By the time we meet again, I will have formulated your individual care-plan. We will agree a target goal, and we will constantly review the progress of your sessions. If you feel you would like to explore other challenges, then we will work together to find the best course of action.
  • It is vital that my clients are able to trust me. As such, I can promise that you won't be forced to talk about anything you don't want to. Furthermore, if I can't help you myself, then I will help you find the support you need. Over the years, I have built up an extensive network of highly-skilled therapists with their own areas of expertise, plus a broad array of treatment and rehabilitation facilities. I have travelled to every facility and worked with every one of these people, making it my mission to understand exactly what they can offer my clients - so you can feel confident that you will always be in safe hands.
  • As a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapists (BACP), I believe that change is about process, and process is about the small steps we take. Within those small steps can come the biggest changes - get in touch with me today, and let me help you make that change.
